
After two days of waiting for weather improvements, a qualification run and a final run were completed on Wednesday in the 17th edition of the Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships in Riksgränsen, Sweden. After two impressive runs with huge airs and difficult line choices Henrik Windstedt of Sweden, took his sixth victory and became the 2008 champion.
The sun has been shining from a clear sky and the snow condition was just amazing after days of snowfall. The qualifications were held at the Nordalssadeln and the audience got to see a lot of great skiing, anxious moments and all of it in the best possible weather.
The performance of the day came from Swedish big mountain skiier Christian Björk who took the lead ahead of Henrik Windstedt. In the ladie´s qualification, Christine Hargin and Sara Sandberg, did strong runs.
The finals at Nordalsbranten were nothing less than fantastic. The judges where impressed by incredible skiing, first and foremost from Henrik Windstedt who became the first skier ever to take six victories in the SBMC history.
Rebecka Eriksson, Sweden, did a clean run with big airs and won the ladie´s final. In the snowboard discipline, the reigning champion Björn Lindgren, Sweden, defended his title with a strong and technical run and Per Jonsson, Sweden, won the Telemark discipline with two solid runs.
